I knew even before meeting Nick and Bethany in person that they would be amazing people. Truly just getting to hang out with amazing couples is what I love about shooting engagement sessions. A couple truly up for adventure and who also just love to be together in each others company, conversing over a cup of tea. I honestly CAN NOT WAIT for the wedding in August!!

In just a little less than a month I will be photographing this amazing couple. Although I am not even sure if the word amazing does them justice. They are  a couple that loves to have fun, and you can tell they bring that with them everywhere they go. They are truly just two big kids, who love adventure and that is what we centered the shoot around. Fair warning- Image overload

Adam + Carrie // Rockford Engagement Session

20.12.12

About 5 years ago, I met this incredible friend, Carrie. Since then our friendship has blossomed into one that I treasure beyond words. From watching Golden Girls and eating Cheesecakes to forming a dance group or simply just chatting about life. We’ve been through it all. She is basicly my twin and I love her to death. So when she told me she got engaged, naturally my happiness for her was pure joy and excitement. And I’m so glad to be standing by her on her big day. But enough about my babbling, I wanted to share some words from Carrie and Adam. And a little bit about their love story!

Words from the couple:

The way that Adam and Carrie met is the definition of “divine intervention.” Carrie (born in Seoul, South Korea, which has a population of over 10.5 million) was adopted into a family from Pittsfield, a small, 4,000-person town in west central Illinois. Had Carrie remained in South Korea, she and Adam would have grown up and lived their lives 6,625 miles apart and likely never would have meet. Instead, they both grew up with families that lived 1.5 miles apart, attended the same school from elementary school through high school and saw each other almost every single day, without even realizing what was to become of their friendship.

It wasn’t until 5 years later when Adam received a random Facebook message from Carrie, asking to see if he’d be interested in doing a duet for Carrie’s church on Easter Sunday. To make a long story short, they hit it off from there and have been inseparable since. Then, one day Adam couldn’t wait any longer and finally proposed. He planned a night to remember. He got his sister Becca to cook a dinner of Carrie’s favorite foods. Over candlelight and music, they had a wonderful dinner. Then he took her outside to go dance under the stars like they did for the first time together in his parents’ back yard. After a while they made it back to the back porch with candles lit everywhere. This is where they had their first date, first kiss and first “I love you.” This was their “spot.” After shedding many tears, it also became where Adam got down on one knee and proposed.

{What Carrie loves about Adam} I am so blessed. Adam is one of the most caring, sincere persons I have ever met. He is always there to help others out, even if it’s inconvenient for him, he won’t hesitate to fulfill a need. If I’m feeling down or stressed with school, he jumps right in to relieve my tension. He is always thinking of ways to make me happy and he succeeds every time. He’s also the smartest and most talented man I know, but of course he would never tell you that. If you know anything about me, then you know how much I love to laugh. Adam’s humor, jokes, and cute little gestures are constantly making me smile. But most importantly, it’s the way we’ve been able to grow as a couple in Christ. His genuine love for Jesus and serving others is something I look forward to witnessing every day. It’s the simple things about Adam that I love and appreciate. These are the qualities that I will cherish and look forward to during our lifetime together.

{What Adam loves about Carrie} What I love about Carrie cannot be said in a paragraph. It cannot be said in a story, book or anthology. What I love about Carrie is everything. Her personality is unlike any that you would ever experience twice. It is totally unforgettable. My friends and family have felt so blessed to just have spent time with Carrie. The ultimate blessing is that she will now become an official part of our family. Every experience with her is more than a memory. Every gesture and act of pure kindness is so genuine. I have to pinch myself on occasion just to remind myself that this is happening. God has delivered me an angel. And this is real. I would never have guessed that being reunited with an old friend after 5+ years would lead to this. Carrie is not my friend anymore. She is my best friend. And on June 15, 2013, I become the luckiest man in the world. My best friend will be my wife.

I love trying new things, although when it comes to food I am a little more picky and hesitant. Especially if I can’t even spell the food. But that is another story for another time. I wanted to something new with my engagement books. Typically I use the same company as my wedding books for my engagement books. But I decided to try something different this time. And I absolutely love the new engagement books that I will be using for now! They still have the layflat look and they now come in a lot of  amazing leather colors. Which I love to have that option for engagement books. My favorite color being the one featured on the blog today. Love, Love and Love.

But aside from that I am offering these books to past or present clients for an extra 25% off this whole week. So clients feel free to email me, if you would like to order an engagement book!

Happy Monday!

Ben + Amy // Chicago Engagement Session

14.11.12

The week had started out in the 70′s but as the engagement session drew near the temperature significantly dropped. But that didn’t stop us from going out and having a fun time. I met Amy in college! She is definitely one of the sweetest girls I know! Who has a fiance that clearly shows how much he cares and loves her. Sometimes it really is the little things that make the biggest difference. Like the way you can tell he listens as she talks to him or how he can make her laugh at the drop of a hat. I love how much they love. And I am soo excited to share Ben and Amy’s engagement session on the blog today!

I got the text

“Hey would you do our engagement pictures?”. Umm No wasn’t even a thought  in my mind. I always love when my brides become my friends. And it’s so exciting when friends become my brides. I’ve know Barb for about 4 years. We met at camp and instantly become friends. A friendship I didn’t even know would blossom the way it did.

So, when I got the text, I was elated and couldn’t wait to meet the man that stole her heart.  I love the way they love eachother and carry each other through the tough and easy times. I’m thankful that my friend found someone worth spending the rest of her life with.

I met Jessica a few months back in one of my Bible study groups. Honestly, one of the kindest and down to earth girls I’ve ever met. And I found to no surprise that Ryan carried those same traits.

The day had called for some rain but when we got there not a single drop fell. It was really an amazing day. Days like these are actually kind of teasers because as I get to know my couples I get sadder knowing that I wont be seeing them for a few months. Buuuut enough chatter! Here are a few images from the day!!
