The last time I won something I was a sophomore in college at a basketball game. It was half-time and I was secretly hoping they wouldn’t pick my name. Don’t get me wrong I wanted to win one of  the prizes but I don’t like attention so the thought of  walking across the court, in front of hundreds of students/ parents to claim a prize kind of freaked me out. And I knew my name would totally be butchered( another bonus!). But the moment came to draw names and even though I  actually didn’t think I would win. I was still really anxious. And then yup, my name was called. And to my surprise my name was pronounced correctly( well my first name at least). I didn’t want to go but my friends pushed me forward and I ran to get my prize in order to avoid any embarrassment. Which only backfired because I looked like a complete fool running across a gym with thick boots on. Even though I just ended up winning a free large pizza (Which I might add is very valuable in college) that moment was still so bittersweet for me because I never win anything.

Yesterday I got the one of the best emails to date. I won an all  included trip to got to Portland, Oregon in April. Yes, I won!!  and the best part is I get to bring a friend. The trip was brought on by the crew of the upcoming Blue Like Jazz movie.  I am still learning more details but I will be there for a preview of the movie and meeting/hanging out with some amazing people.  Donald Miller’s blog( who wrote the book that the movie is based on) is one of my favorite blogs to read. Seriously can’t wait and I definitely know this will be a more amazing  experience then my last winning experience. Now where to get some cute rain boots…..
